Why I bought a Bentley at 25 - South African rapper Cassper Nyovest

South African rapper Cassper Nyovest has opened up on his love for handcrafted British luxury vehicles and in particular, the Bentley.

In a motivational exchange with his fans as to why he prides in his Bentleys, Nyovest explained that he purchased the vehicle, touted as the world's most sought after brand, as a fulfilment of a dream he had as a teen.

Nyovest said he first set his eyes on a Bentley Continental Flying Spur - dipped in green and in all its glory - driven by a black man in the suburbs. Then a 12-year-old, he swore to own one when he grew up.

The wish came true when the Mama I made It star turned 25; a decade after he drooled over the Flying Spur that petrolheads bill as the ‘sedan version of the gorgeous Continental GT Coupe’.

“First time I saw a Bentley I was 12/13 years old walking from my Hood to Rivera Park (TheBurbs). I saw this big whip approaching from afar. Didn't know the car but it just seemed expensive. A man called Ralf Mabe in a Green Flying Spur. Told myself I would drive the car one day!!” Stated Nyovest.

In 10 years, Nyovest had made it big time, topped charts as a reputable hip-hop bigwig and was riding high with an enviable tag as one of the richest rappers in South Africa. He had, of course, moved out of the suburbs.

The rapper narrated that he often cruises in it to remind himself that hard work pays and to motivate other black, disadvantaged children that dreams come true.

“One of the reasons I bought Bentleys is to remind myself why I work sooo work. When I'm driving, sitting in the back being driven, opening the garage or anytime I am using the cars, I just take a deep breath and say "God is Good" and hard work pays off!!!,” wrote the rapper.

He added: “I feel so great man. I saw a black man driving a Bentley when I was 12 and I was inspired. I drove my first Bentley at 25 and I know some kid is out there watching me, and believing in his dreams because he saw me live out mine. It's a great feeling man. I have done my part. God moves!”
