The world is mourning the death of a music icon, Aurlus Mabele.
The Congolese music legend passed on March 19 and becomes one of the first Paris-based soukous stars has been killed by Coronavirus.
The Afro-Pop star was aged 67 and has been battling a throat tumour for about 15 years. He also suffered after a stroke in 2005
The news was broken by his nephew, Robert Brazza on his Facebook page. He posted the news of Thursday evening.
“Hey Uncle Aurlus! The young wolf that I was will not forget your wise advice: “stay small yourself … and enjoy!”.
My sadness is great this evening, but my gratitude is even more so. You were the RHYTHM, you were the JOY, you were the KINDNESS … and you will remain so. For eternity. Go in peace, the control tower… go in peace Aurlus Mabele. I know that Tata Nzambi has already welcomed you in her great mercy.”
Aurlus is famed for his brand of soukous hits that traversed borders. He has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide.
